He makes standard tunes sound very fresh by leaving lots of space and creating unexpected textures. His debut album "Undercurrent" displays his own inimitable style. -"Fresh and quirky" (Jazz FM). Anna is no stranger to CafeJAZZ. She has performed as part of the Louise Ryan Vocal School, and this will be her second solo gig. Anna promises an evening of jazz and soul classics mixed with some recent favourites. This solo performance is a change from her usual roles, fronting the six piece band, "Jazz Soul Patrol" and the pop / rock band "Under Cover". If you fancy a night of songs, from Ella to Eva, Dusty to Duffy, please come along. FREE ADMISSION. |

Simon Robinson, Steve Down and Andy Balls all studied Jazz preformance and composition under David Marchant (Berklee MA) at Southampton University in 2003. There they explored their knowledge of Jazz whilst embracing the experimentalism of the growing electro scene and the intensity of rock. their original compositions use rock rhythms, infectious melodies with heavy bouts of electronica and jazz improvisation. In 2007 they released their debut EP "Souvenir", displaying the trio as a modern jazz outfit with wit, immense creativity and raw high energy. The eagerly awaited debut album is titled 'Fraudulent Jazz' and is due for release in the spring on Indie Lable Chiwawa. ADMISSION: £6.00/ £5.00 concessions. |

This drum and bass duo describe their music as "alternative progressive rock". They perform and crreate progressive music using funk and rock structures. Their music has grown from the influences of Rush, Tool, Primus and anything that creates a groove with a flavour!! 9:00pm Harrison Smith QuartetA Cardiff Jazz Society presentation
Harrison Smith plays tenor and soprano saxophones and bass clarinet. He has played in groups as diverse as the South African inspired 'District Six', the more experimental approach of 'Free Jazz Quartet' and the 'London Improvisors Orchestra'.
